Terms and Conditions

1. General Provisions

1.1. All training provided by 2Moto Training LLP (|2Moto”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is regulated by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and is subject to all laws and regulations in force at the time of training.

1.2. By booking, attending, or taking part in any training, you (“the Customer”) agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions in full.

1.3. No changes to these Terms will be valid unless confirmed in writing and signed by a member of 2Moto.

1.4. These Terms replace any earlier representations, communications, or agreements not expressly included here.

1.5. These Terms are presented for your acceptance at the point of booking. You must read and accept these Terms in full before completing any booking. Once accepted, these Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and 2Moto.

1.6. If you are under the age of 18, you must have the written consent of a parent or legal guardian before booking any training. The parent or guardian must accept these Terms on your behalf and will be jointly responsible for compliance with these Terms and for all fees payable.

1.7. We may update these Terms from time to time. The version of these Terms in force at the date of your booking will apply to that booking.

1.8. Nothing in these Terms is intended to affect your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or any other applicable consumer protection laws.

2. Compulsory Basic Training (CBT)

2.1. Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) is a legal requirement for all learner motorcyclists under UK law.

2.2. CBT consists of five distinct training and assessment elements set by DVSA regulations. Each element must be individually assessed and signed off as satisfactory by a DVSA-certified instructor.

2.3. A CBT certificate (DL196) will only be issued when all five elements have been successfully completed. Attendance alone does not entitle you to a certificate.

2.4. CBT is scheduled as a training event or events as shown on the 2Moto website or in the written offer made at the time of booking. The duration of instruction is not guaranteed, and progression depends entirely on your ability and competence.

2.5. If you do not complete all CBT elements within the day or event, you must rebook further training at your own cost. Prior payments do not entitle you to additional training without further charge.

2.6. By law, instructors cannot allow you to move on to the next element without demonstrating the required standard at the current stage.

3. Definitions

“Working Days” means Monday to Friday inclusive and does not include Saturdays, Sundays, or Bank Holidays in England and Wales. Notice requiring “X Working Days” means clear full days between the day immediately following the notice and the day before the training or test event date.

4. When Training May Be Ended Early

4.1. Training may be ended at any time, including immediately upon arrival, if you do not meet legal, safety, or competence requirements as determined by the instructor, acting reasonably and in line with DVSA standards. In such cases, fees for that training event will not be refunded.

4.2. For Compulsory Basic Training (CBT), the instructor may end training at any stage if, in their reasonable opinion, you do not meet the required standard for any element. This may happen at any point — including within the first few minutes — as soon as it becomes clear that the standard cannot be met. Examples include, but are not limited to, failing the eyesight test, not presenting a valid licence, arriving 30 minutes after the stated start time, being unfit to train, or being unable to communicate adequately in English. Each of the five compulsory elements is assessed in line with DVSA criteria. In all such cases, fees paid for that session will not be refunded, and you must rebook and pay for any further training required.

4.3. You must rebook and pay in full for any further training required.

4.4. At our sole discretion (acting reasonably), you may be allowed to re-attend specific failed elements, subject to additional fees.

5. Licence Requirements

5.1. You must present a valid, original, in-date UK driving licence photocard. For old-style paper licences, a valid in-date UK passport must also be presented. All licence documents must be in good condition, easily readable, and not damaged, defaced, or so worn that any essential details are difficult to read.

5.2. You confirm that all documents provided are genuine, valid, and current.

5.3. If you do not comply, training will be ended immediately, fees will not be refunded, and you will need to rebook at your own cost.

5.4. You must meet the minimum age requirements for the type of training booked. For CBT, the minimum age is 16. For further motorcycle training and testing, minimum ages are set by law and vary by licence category. You are responsible for making sure you meet the applicable age requirement before booking.

6. CBT Certificate Requirements for Riding and Further Training

6.1. If you are riding a learner-legal motorcycle to the training site for CBT renewal, you must hold a valid, in-date CBT certificate (DL196) and comply with all legal requirements (insurance, tax, UK licence, L-plates, MOT if applicable).

6.2. If you are attending further training after passing a CBT — whether your certificate was obtained with 2Moto or another provider — you must present your CBT certificate for inspection if requested, especially if relying on it to ride to or take part in training.

6.3. If you do not have a valid CBT certificate, you must not ride to the site and must make other transport arrangements, unless you hold a full motorcycle licence and are attending post-test or advanced training. If you cannot provide a valid certificate or licence on request, training will be refused and fees will not be refunded.

7. EU and Foreign Licence Holders

7.1. Only holders of valid UK or Northern Ireland driving licences may take part in training and testing. Holders of European Union or overseas licences are not eligible for training under DVSA rules.

7.2. If you hold a foreign or overseas licence, you must complete an official licence exchange using the D1 form (available at post offices or online at the government website) before booking any training.

7.3. If you present a non-UK or non-Northern Ireland licence, training will be ended immediately, fees will not be refunded, and you must rebook once a valid UK licence has been obtained.

8. Payments

8.1. A minimum deposit of £150 is required to secure a booking. Deposits are non-refundable except where cancellation is made in line with the notice periods in Section 24 (Cancellations, Refunds, and Rescheduling), the statutory cooling-off period (see clause 24.6), or where 2Moto cancels a course for reasons not covered by these Terms. Where cancellation is made in line with Section 24, an administrative fee of 10% of the total course cost will apply.

8.2. All fees must be paid in full no later than five (5) Working Days before the course start date.

8.3. If you do not pay on time, your booking may be cancelled, your deposit may be lost, and you may lose your place.

8.4. Fuel is included in the course fee for all CBT training. For all Direct Access Scheme (DAS) courses, fuel is not included and you are responsible for providing and paying for all fuel used during training.

9. Course Length and YourResponsibility

9.1. Courses are designed for the average learner; additional training may be needed before you reach DVSA test standards.

9.2. Passing is based on competence, not attendance. You are responsible for undertaking enough training to meet DVSA standards.

9.3. 2Moto does not guarantee a pass at CBT or DVSA test level.

10. Time Gaps Between Sessions

10.1. The maximum permitted gap between training sessions is three (3) weeks.

10.2. If you exceed this gap, you will need to book further paid sessions to restore safe competence at your own cost.

11. Language Proficiency

11.1. All training is conducted in English. You must demonstrate sufficient understanding without interpreters.

11.2. Radio communication is an essential part of training; if you are unable to follow instructions, training will be refused and fees will not be refunded.

12. Alcohol, Medication, and Drugs

12.1. You must not be under the influence of alcohol, drugs (including prescription or over-the-counter medication that impairs riding), or any substance that may impair safe and legal operation of a motorcycle during any training session. The permitted alcohol level for training is zero.

12.2. The instructor must be reasonably satisfied that you are not under the influence of any such substances before, and throughout, training.

12.3. If you are suspected of being under the influence, or if there is any reasonable doubt about your fitness, training will be ended immediately and fees will not be refunded.

12.4. You have a duty to tell us about any medication, health condition, or substance that may affect your fitness to ride before the training session.

13. Health, Fitness, Equality, and Disabilities

13.1. You must make sure you are mentally and physically fit before booking and attending any training. You must not have any balance issues and must be able to ride a pedal bicycle competently, including in normal traffic and when performing basic manoeuvres such as a figure of eight.

13.2. Instructors may refuse training if you are deemed unsafe to ride. No refund will be due, and fees will not be refunded.

13.3. Reasonable adjustments will be considered in line with 2Moto’s published Equality and Disabilities Statement and the Equality Act 2010 where practicable and lawful. You are required to let us know in advance of any adjustments that may be necessary.

14. Attendance

14.1. Full attendance is mandatory. Late arrival counts as non-attendance. If you are 30 minutes late, you will not be able to access the site and you will need to rebook at your expense.

14.2. CBT must be completed without absence under DVSA rules.

14.3. If you do not attend, all fees are forfeited.

15. YourResponsibility to Check Details

15.1. You are responsible for checking, confirming, and keeping up with communications about course dates, changes, instructions, or tests.

15.2. You must check your email and text messages daily and read all instructions in full.

15.3. Messages are considered received once sent by 2Moto to the last contact details you have given us.

15.4. Not reading or acting on messages does not remove your responsibility.

16. Theory Test and Highway Code

16.1. A Motorcycle Theory Test pass certificate is not legally required for Compulsory Basic Training (CBT). However, you must have a good working knowledge of the Highway Code before attending. We strongly recommend that you prepare for CBT by learning road signs, markings, and rules of the road. If you cannot demonstrate adequate Highway Code knowledge, training may be refused and fees will not be refunded.

16.2. A Motorcycle Theory Test pass certificate is mandatory for Module 1 and Module 2 tests. Proof must be supplied at least ten (10) Working Days in advance. The certificate must be presented to 2Moto on the first day of your DAS training.

16.3. If the certificate is not provided, 2Moto may cancel your tests or training, and fees will not be refunded.

16.4. You must study the Highway Code in advance. Instructors may refuse training if your knowledge is not adequate, with no refund due.

17. Eyesight

17.1. You must be able to read a number plate at 20.5 metres (with corrective lenses if worn).

17.2. If you cannot do so, training will be ended immediately, fees will not be refunded, and you will need to rebook at your own cost.

18. Insurance and Excess

18.1. Loan motorcycles are insured subject to a £1,500 excess, which you will be responsible for paying in the event of damage.

18.2. A Collision Damage Waiver may be purchased separately.

18.3. Radio equipment is not covered by insurance and must be paid for if damaged.

19. Equipment and Size Suitability

19.1. 2Moto can loan helmets, gloves, and jackets for customers in sizes S to XL. If you are outside this range, you must provide your own. All other required clothing and footwear must be provided by you.

19.2. If your body size, shape, weight, or any physical characteristic may prevent the safe fit of gear or motorcycles, you must attend a pre-booking appointment to check suitability before booking any course.

19.3. If you do not comply, training will be refused and fees will not be refunded.

19.4. You must wear appropriate motorcycle clothing that meets legal and safety requirements. This includes: a helmet meeting European or British safety standards (such as ECE 22.05, ECE 22.06, or BS 6658:1985 with the BSI Kitemark); sturdy boots providing ankle support; motorcycle gloves; motorcycle-specific or heavy denim trousers; and a motorcycle or heavy denim jacket with adequate layering underneath. No areas of skin may be exposed.

19.5. Wearing appropriate clothing is a legal and safety requirement. If you are not correctly dressed, you will not be allowed to train, fees will not be refunded, and you will need to rebook at additional cost.

19.6. The maximum combined rider and luggage weight for any learner motorcycle used in training is 140kg. The minimum recommended inside leg measurement is 28 inches (71cm), with 29–30 inches (74–76cm) preferable to safely touch the ground. If you think you may be over this weight or under the minimum height, you must contact 2Moto and arrange a pre-booking site visit to confirm suitability before enrolling. If you do not do so, or if you book when outside of these limits, training may be refused, fees will not be refunded, and additional rebooking charges may apply.

20. Using Your Own Motorcycle

20.1. If you are using your own motorcycle, you must provide valid proof of insurance, MOT (if applicable), road tax, and proper L plates.

20.2. Your motorcycle must be learner legal, fully roadworthy, and your insurance must specifically cover professional instruction.

20.3. If you do not comply, training may be ended immediately, fees will not be refunded, and you will need to rebook.

21. Road Conduct and Behaviour

21.1. Training will be ended immediately, and fees will not be refunded, if you behave unsafely, fail to follow instructor directions, are or appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or behave abusively towards staff or any third party.

22. Traffic and Parking Fines

22.1. You are solely responsible for any speeding fines, parking fines, or any other motoring or legal penalties incurred during training, including when using 2Moto vehicles or your own vehicle. All penalties, charges, or related costs are entirely your responsibility.

23. Risk Acknowledgement

23.1. Motorcycling is inherently dangerous and may result in injury or death.

23.2. You take part entirely at your own risk, except in cases of injury or loss caused directly by 2Moto’s proven negligence.

24. Cancellations, Refunds, and Rescheduling

24.1. CBT and training cancellations require at least seven (7) Working Days’ notice. DVSA test cancellations require at least ten (10) Working Days’ notice.

24.2. If you do not give the required notice, fees will not be refunded.

24.3. Refunds are subject to an administrative fee of 10% of the total course cost.

24.4. No refunds will be given where you have breached these Terms.

24.5. These charges represent a genuine pre-estimate of 2Moto’s loss (including staff allocation, DVSA fees, administration, and loss of training capacity).

24.6. Where the booking is made online or at a distance, a statutory cooling-off period of fourteen (14) calendar days from the date of booking applies under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, provided that training has not started, is not due to start within seven (7) Working Days of cancellation, and no DVSA practical test has been booked to take place within ten (10) Working Days of cancellation.

25. Gift Certificates

25.1. Gift certificates are valid for one (1) year from issue.

25.2. Certificates are non-transferable and may only be used by the person named at the time of purchase.

25.3. Refunds are available within fourteen (14) days of purchase provided no training date has been allocated, and training has not started or is not due to start within seven (7) clear working days of cancellation. Refunds are payable only to the original purchaser.

26. 2Moto and DVSA Cancellations

26.1. Courses or tests may be rescheduled due to weather, operational issues, or DVSA cancellations.

26.2. Rescheduling does not entitle you to a refund or compensation.

26.3. 2Moto accepts no liability for losses such as travel, accommodation, or loss of earnings.

27. Training Sites and Instructors

27.1. Instructors may vary between sessions.

27.2. Changes to the training site or instructor do not entitle you to a refund or compensation.

27.3. You are responsible for making your own travel arrangements to training sites.

28. Data Protection, Privacy, and CCTV

28.1. 2Moto processes your personal data in line with our published Privacy Policy and GDPR statement available at www.2Moto.uk.

28.2. CCTV is in use at training sites for the purposes of safety, security, monitoring, and regulatory compliance. This processing is carried out on the basis of 2Moto’s legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f) of the UK GDPR. Signs are displayed at all sites where CCTV is in use.

28.3. Our instructors will also use video / audio recording devices (including motorcycle-mounted cameras) during training sessions for the purpose of safety, monitoring, training quality, incident review and dispute resolution. Recordings may capture learners during on-road and off-road training. By booking training with us, you acknowledge and consent to such recordings being made.

28.4. 2Moto will only keep and use personal data in line with applicable data protection laws.

29. Equality, Inclusion, and Disabilities

29.1. 2Moto operates in line with its published Equality and Disabilities Statement, available at www.2Moto.uk.

29.2. Reasonable adjustments will be made to support customers with disabilities or additional needs where legally required and practically possible.

29.3. You must let 2Moto know in advance of any adjustments that may be necessary.

30. Photography and Media

30.1. 2Moto may take photographs, video, or audio recordings during training for training, monitoring, safety, and promotional purposes.

30.2. If you do not wish to appear in promotional material, you must let 2Moto know in writing before training.

31. Force Majeure(Events Beyond Our Control)

31.1. 2Moto will not be liable for any delay or failure to carry out any obligation where such delay or failure results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to extreme weather, flooding, strikes, government restrictions, pandemics, or power failures.

31.2. In such circumstances, training may be rescheduled, but no refunds or compensation will be due.

32. Limitation of Liability

32.1. Except in cases of death or personal injury caused by 2Moto’s proven negligence, our total liability to you will be limited to the total fees you paid for the relevant training event.

32.2. 2Moto will not be liable for any indirect, consequential, or economic losses, including but not limited to loss of earnings, travel expenses, or accommodation costs.

33. Your Indemnity

33.1. You agree to indemnify and keep indemnified 2Moto, its employees, agents, and subcontractors against all claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising out of or in connection with your breach of these Terms, negligence, or misconduct during training.

34.2. Complaints will be looked into in line with 2Moto’s published complaints policy.

34.3. Making a complaint does not pause or change the operation of these Terms.

35. Entire Agreement

35.1. These Terms make up the entire agreement between 2Moto and you and replace all earlier discussions, correspondence, or representations, whether written or spoken.

35.2. You accept that no reliance is placed on any statement, promise, or representation not expressly included in these Terms.

36. Severability

36.1. If any part of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining parts will continue in full force and effect.

37. Waiver

37.1. If 2Moto does not immediately exercise any right or remedy under these Terms or by law, this does not mean we have waived that right or remedy.

38. Third Party Rights
